After careful consideration, the City of Peoria will close the Peoria Public Libraries starting Thursday, March 19, until further notice. This is to be in compliance with Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance about large gatherings and the benefits of social distancing in minimizing community spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Library's top priority is the safety of our patrons and, as this situation progresses, we will continue to evaluate our facilities' availability and share the information with the public. Peoria Library System In-N-Out Burger Presents: The Cover to Cover Club Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries Date: Mar. 7 - Apr. 18 Announcement: The Cover-to-Cover reading program will continue while the Library is closed. Please keep reading and filling out your reading log. Once the library is reopened, a new 'due' date for the logs to be turned into the Library will be provided. Please check back for updated information. Kids, take part in the In-N-Out Burger Cover-to-Cover Club reading program and receive an achievement certificate for a free hamburger or cheeseburger for every 5 books read. Participants can receive up to three certificates! Children must between the ages of 4 - 12 and sign up at either the Peoria Main Library or Sunrise Mountain Library. Back to Top Discovery Learning Peoria Library System PAWS 2 Read @ Your Peoria Libraries PAWS 2 Read is an on-going program which allows children to read aloud to therapy dogs in order to improve reading skills. When children practice reading individually to trained therapy dogs (and their handlers) they become more confident readers, while having fun! After all, a dog will not correct them or make them feel awkward if they stumble.
