Peoria Public Library Phase 1 Reopening

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: Monday, May 18, until further notice.

The city of Peoria is looking forward to seeing everyone again as we safely begin to reopen! The city has developed a three-phased plan for gradually reopening city buildings, facilities and programs to the public during the corona-virus (COVID-19) pandemic. Phase One goes into effect Saturday, May 16, 2020. This plan follows federal and state guidance for reopening, including hygiene, sanitation and physical distancing protocols. As the plan rolls out starting May 16th, COVID-19 trends and data will be evaluated to determine long-term implementations and programming.

Beginning Monday, May 18, Peoria Public Libraries will offer limited lobby services, item requests, internet access and curbside pick-up of reserved books. Patron time in the lobbies will be limited to 15 minutes and will operate with social distancing protocols, enhanced cleaning frequencies and service-point protection barriers in place.

Census 2020

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: Apr. 1, 2020

The purpose of the 2020 Census is to conduct a census of population and housing and disseminate the results to the President, the states, and the American people. The goal of the 2020 Census is to count everyone once and in the right place. The city of Peoria's budget comes from state-shared revenue based on population. Each person counted is worth $3,000 in public services. Essential city services, including police and fire protection as well as roads, parks, hospitals, and schools all depend on an accurate census count.
