Storytimes Break

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Dates: Aug. 5 - Aug. 16

Storytimes at both the Peoria Main Library and Sunrise Mountain Library will be on break the weeks of Aug. 5 - Aug. 16. They will resume at each building the week of Aug. 19.

The Songercize sessions at Sunrise Mountain Library scheduled for Aug. 2 have also been cancelled.

We hope everyone has a great and safe start of the new school year!

Peoria Main Library - Parking Lot Closure

Library: Peoria Main Library
Date: Aug. 5

The parking lot in front of the Peoria Main Library will be closed Monday, Aug.5, for repairs. Parking will be available in the garage to the south of the building as well as in front of the Council Chambers to the east. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Design The New Centennial Library Card Contest!

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Dates: Jun. 1 - Aug. 1

This coming year, 2020, we will be celebrating the Peoria Public Libraries' 100th birthday and you can help us by designing a special Centennial Library Card. We want to know what does 100 years of Peoria Public Library service mean to you? Show us through your designs!

All ages can participate, with the finalists chosen from groups of 5-11, 12-17 and 18+ years of age. Stop by your local Peoria Library today to pick up an entry form or download one with the link below. Entries are due on Aug. 1 and the winner will be announced in Sept.

Peoria Forward & ASU Present Peoria Entrepreneurial Sessions

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

Peoria Forward is a high-impact partnership between ASU E+I and the City of Peoria designed to grow and scale the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the City of Peoria and accelerate economic development. Peoria Forward events are FREE and open to everyone. Events are interactive with engaging formats designed to build the Peoria entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Peoria READS! Children's Peoria Summer Reading Program

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Dates: Jun. 1 – Aug. 1

The City of Peoria's Mayor Cathy Carlat proudly presents Peoria Reads! Kids, read at least 20 minutes a day from June 1st to August 1st for chances to win great prizes. Earn additional drawing tickets by attending special Peoria Summer events over the summer! Pick up your Peoria READS! bookmark at your local Peoria Library or at any of the Peoria READS! events. Completed bookmarks must be returned to your local Peoria Library Saturday, August 3, 2019. For children up to 12 years old.

Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading: A Universe Of Stories

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Dates: Jun. 1 - Aug. 1

This year’s theme is “A Universe of Stories,” which encourages participants to explore outer space and exercise their minds by reading at least 20 minutes a day. Participants can earn online badges to keep a healthy competition with family and friends. Beginning June 1, participants can start logging their summer reading activities rewards and even enter to win prizes. People who log 1,000 points can choose a free book from an online marketplace, while supplies last. Participants can earn one point per minute for reading physical or electronic books (including graphic novels), listening to audiobooks, and also for attending library events and completing online challenges!

Teens, cool off from the heat and watch a movie with your friends every Tuesday. Snacks and drinks are provided! All movies will be PG-13. All teens aged 12 - 17 are welcome. No registration needed. This week's title is 'Five Feet Apart'..

Teen Paint Night

Library: Sunrise Mountain Library
Date: Wednesday, July 24
Time: 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Join us at Sunrise Mountain for a fun night of painting at the library! We welcome all teens to come explore their creativity on the canvas, whether you’ve never held a brush or you’re a skilled painter. We’ll be working with canvas and acrylic paints, so wear clothes that you wouldn’t mind getting a little paint on, just in case. All supplies are provided, and space is limited to 15 teens!

Summer Reading Event
Arizona Movies: Westerns and More

Library: Peoria Main Library
Date: Saturday, Jul. 27
Time: 2:30 p.m.

The landscape across Arizona made it a prime location for Westerns, many featuring John Wayne. Walt Disney also filmed in Arizona, as well as Andy Warhol. Marshall Shore presents this fascinating look at cinema history.

It's Only Knit and Purl

Join us as we perform needle work by knitting, crocheting and quilting, all while engaging in friendly conversation on all range of topics. Beginners are welcome and you must be 16 years of age and older to participate.
