Peoria Main Library

Peoria Main Library Construction: March - August

Library: Peoria Main Library
Dates: Mid-March through early August

The Peoria Main Library is currently undergoing construction on its roof, continuing until early August.

The building and our services will continue to be available during this time,
including the Summer Reading Program!

The parking lot will have limited spaces accessible and patrons are encouraged to utilize the parking garage to the south of the building until the construction is complete. Please call 623-773-7555 or stop by the circulation desk with any questions. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Peoria Public Libraries: Closure

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: Sunday, Apr. 1

The Peoria Main Library and Sunrise Mountain Library will be closed on Sunday, Apr. 1, for a spring break to spend time with family and friends.

*The outside book drops will be unavailable during the closure.

Food for Fines at Your Peoria Libraries

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: Apr. 8 - 14

50¢ will be deducted from overdue fees for each non-perishable food item donated at either of the Peoria Public Libraries. A maximum of $25 can be paid with donated food. Homemade food or food in lieu of lost or damaged items cannot be accepted. Donated food will be distributed to Community Hope Center in Peoria. Donations accepted as well. In-N-Out Burger Presents: The Cover to Cover Club

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: Mar. 3 - Apr. 14

Youth Services is preparing for the In-N-Out Burger Cover to Cover Club reading program. Kids receive an achievement certificate for a free hamburger or cheeseburger for every 5 books they read. They can receive up to three certificates. Children must between the ages of 4 - 12 and sign up at either the Peoria Main Library or Sunrise Mountain Library. The program runs Mar. 3 - Apr. 14.

National Poetry Month Contest

Library: Peoria Main Library
Dates: Mar. 19 - Apr. 30

April is National Poetry Month! To celebrate, we are having a poetry contest. Submit your original poem creation by Apr. 30 at the Adult Reference desk on the 2nd floor for a chance to win a Barnes & Noble gift card! For ages 12 and up only please. Professional poets are not eligible. Inquire at the Adult Reference Desk for more information. The winner will be selected based on the best poem.

Peoria Care Givers Conference

Please join us for the Peoria Care Givers Conference on Friday, Mar. 30, at the Peoria Main Library. The topics include The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, Understanding & Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors & Effective Communication Strategies, and Legal and Financial Planning for Alzheimer’s Disease. The conference is brought to you by the Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter - Central Arizona Region: http://www.alz.org/dsw. Check in is at 12 p.m. in the Willow Room.

Celebrate National Library Week!

Join us at the library in celebrating National Library Week April 8 - 14! There are activities and fun for the whole family.

  • Apr. 8 through 14 - Help the library to find out 'Where’s Waldo' and complete other literacy challenges for prizes all week long!
  • Monday, Apr. 9, @ 1:30 p.m. - Come and celebrate National Library Week, and play Book BINGO for prizes!
  • Tuesday, Apr. 10 - National Library Workers Day. Fill out a Star to say what you love most about Libraries and the people who work there.
  • Wednesday, Apr. 11 - National Bookmobile Day! Enter to win a Basket of Books in the Youth Services Hall. Please limit one entry per person, the winner will be drawn and contacted on Sunday Apr. 15.
  • Thursday, Apr. 12, @ 4 p.m. - Tie-Dye Sharpie Pillowcases! Libraries are about so much more than books! Come learn how to make a groovy tie-dye design using only sharpie pens and water. Supplies are limited so tickets will be given out 30 minutes early.
  • Friday, Apr. 13, @ 11 a.m. - Come to the Library to watch a movie (accurately) based on a book. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (Rated PG; for battle sequences and frightening moments)

ACT Workshop

Planning on taking the ACT test? Join us for an informative workshop put on by Dr. Chelaru of Phoenix Tutors. Topics covered include: An in-depth analysis of the exam, test taking skills, time and data management, and strategies you need to succeed. Space is limited and registration is required. Northwest Speakers Toastmasters

The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. We are an “open” club actively welcoming new members! Please visit as often as you wish – no commitment or fees are required until you decide if the club is a good fit for you.
