Library Closures

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

The Peoria Libraries will be closed during the following dates in September, 2017. Please contact the Peoria Main Library at 623-773-7555 or the Sunrise Mountain Library at 623-773-8650 with any questions.

  • Sunrise Mountain Library - Closed Sunday, Sept. 3rd.
  • Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries - Closed Monday, Sept. 4th.
  • Peoria Main Library - Closed Tuesday, Sept. 5th, - Friday, Sept. 8th.

Build It Contest

Library: Peoria Main Library
Date: Saturday, Aug. 26th
Time: 2:00p.m. - 3:00p.m.

Come play a Building Game, learn about Pattern Blocking, and build with Legos, Knex, or Build & Bloom. Each activity will earn points. The kid with the most points will win a McDonald’s Party! Everyone who attends will also get a McDonald’s coupon. For Ages 6 and Up. Tickets available at 1:30p.m.

Princess and Pirate Party

Library: Peoria Main Library in the Willow Room & Activity Room
Date: Saturday, Sept. 9th
Time: 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m.

Come to the Willow Room for face painting and hear the story of Cinderella told by her Fairy Godmother. Come to the Activity Room for a Pirate Name Contest and to make a Pirate Hat. There will be a Prize Basket Drawing for all who attend. You can even come dressed as a Princess or a Pirate – either way we hope to see you there!

Mo Willems' Gerald and Piggie Reading Event

Library: Peoria Main Library
Date: Thursday, Sept. 21st
Time: 10:00a.m.

Come Thursday Morning for a Special Event Story Time! Our Councilwoman, Vicki Hunt, will be reading Elephant & Piggie Stories. Also everyone who attends will get to make a Piggie Puppet Craft!

Mo Willems' Gerald and Piggie Reading Event

Library: Sunrise Mountain Library
Date: Friday, Sept. 22th
Time: 10:00a.m.

Join us in celebrating National Library Card Month with special a special event with Gerald and Piggie! Special guest Mayor Cathy Carlot will read a special story, kids can have their pictures taken with Gerald and Piggie, and also make Piggie puppets. There will snacks and more!

Nerf! Library Battlefield

Library: Peoria Main Library
Date: Friday, Oct. 6th
Time: 6:05p.m. – 8:00p.m.

We will supply the darts and safety goggles, you supply your Nerf gadget (No upgrades). We will have a few toys for teens to use, but not many. Have fun navigating the library stacks while playing various NERF games. Only the first 50 teens who register can play, so turn in your registration form early. You can pick up parent permission/registration form at the library or download/print off one at the library website. For ages 12 – 18 only, no exception. Registrations due by Oct. 4th.

Escape the Library

Library: Sunrise Mountain Library
Date: Friday, Oct. 13th
Time: 6:00p.m. - 8:30p.m.

Teens, come to the library and solve puzzles and riddles to escape to the next level! Parent permission forms are required and only the first 40 teens to sign up will be allowed to participate. Registration opens Sept. 12th. Information coming soon.

Tuesday Night Jam

Library: Peoria Main Library in the Willow Room
Date: The 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of every month
Time: 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m.

A free jam session open to everyone. Stop by and make some music!

Northwest Speakers Toastmasters

Library: Peoria Main Library in the Activity Room
Date: The 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month
Time: 6:30p.m. – 7:30p.m.

The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. We are an “open” club actively welcoming new members! Please visit as often as you wish – no commitment or fees are required until you decide if the club is a good fit for you.
