Peoria Public Libraries: Winter Holiday Closures

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Dates: Dec. 24, 25 & 31 and Jan. 1

The Peoria Main Library and Sunrise Mountain Library will be closed on the following dates during the winter holidays:

  • Dec. 24, 25 and 31: Closed.
  • Jan. 1: Closed.

We hope that everyone has a great and safe holiday and New Year's Eve!

*The outside book drops will be unavailable during the closures.

Storytimes Break

Storytimes at your Peoria Libraries will be on holiday break the weeks of Dec. 25 - 29 & Jan. 1 - 5. They will resume the week of Jan. 8.

Winter Reading Program

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Dates: Dec. 1 - 31
Time: 15 minutes per day

Register at the Youth Desks for Peoria Public Libraries’ Winter Reading program. Pick up a sticker sheet to keep track of your reading AND your first prize! Finish the whole month and receive a prize from the Treasure Chest. One lucky winner will receive a special grand prize!

    Come to the library and make a no-sew family fleece blanket to snuggle up on a cozy night! We will drink hot chocolate and listen to Christmas music while making our blankets together. One blanket per family. Registration Required.

    Teen Alphabet Soup

    Library: Peoria Main Library in the Multipurpose Room
    Dates: Thursdays; Jan. 4, Feb. 1, Mar. 1 and Apr. 5
    Time: 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.

    Starting in January, LGBTQ teens and their friends can come to the library once a month to talk, and have fun. The program activities and topics will be constantly changing, but the atmosphere will stay the same. All dates are the first Thursday of the month.

    Every great book starts with a great beginning. Start your day with a great beginning at the Great Beginnings Book Club. Join us in the Adult Fiction section on the second Wednesday of each month from 9-10 a.m. to meet new people and discuss good books.

    The diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease is life-changing and leads to many questions. What will this mean for me and my family? How do I plan for the future? Where can I get the help I need?

    Join us for this three-part program where you will hear from others who have been where you are. We will discuss what you need to know, what you need to plan, and what you can do as you navigate this chapter of your life. Registration Required

    Date: The second & fourth Thursdays of the month
    Time: 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

    The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. We are an “open” club actively welcoming new members! Please visit as often as you wish – no commitment or fees are required until you decide if the club is a good fit for you.
