Peoria Public Library Announcement

Both the Main Peoria Public Library and the Sunrise Mountain Library will be closed October 10th, 2016, from 9:00a.m. until 12:00p.m. for staff development. Both buildings will open at noon for the remainder of their normal operating hours.

September is National Get A Library Card Month!

The American Library Association shares, "A public library card is your ticket to free educational resources and activities that bring families together. Libraries not only provide resources to parents and children that support early literacy and lifelong learning, but truly transform how families spend time together."

Come help us celebrate at your Peoria Public Library with special events and fun for the whole family. AND, if you do not have one yet, do not forget to sign up for your card today!

We Love Our Peoria Library Card Photo Contest!

Library: Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: September 1st through September 29th

In celebration of National Get A Library Card Month, we present the "We Love Our Peoria Library Card" photo contest. Bring a picture of you or your family holding a Peoria Library Card to either the Peoria Main Library or Sunrise Mountain Library for our display and have a chance to win a $100.00 Barnes & Noble gift card. The drawing will be on September 30th, 2016. Please call the Peoria Main library at 623-773-7555 or the Sunrise Mountain Library at 623-773-8650 for details or visit one of the libraries' service desks today.

Banned Books Week

Library: Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: September 25th - Octorber 1st

The Banned Books Week Coalition is a national alliance of diverse organizations joined by a commitment to increase awareness of the annual celebration of the freedom to read. The Coalition seeks to engage various communities and inspire participation in Banned Books Week through education, advocacy, and the creation of programming about the problem of book censorship.

Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries. More than 11,300 books have been challenged since 1982 according to the American Library Association.
