Izzard, the Leopard Gecko
|
Eublepharis macularius. Izzard is at least 7 years old and can live to be more
than 20. She eats 2-3 superworms every few days (see below). Leopard geckos are
wild in the deserts of Pakistan but Izzard was born in a pet store. Izzard
stores extra food in her chubby tail. Leopard geckos--like other kinds of
geckos--have another neat tail trick. When an enemy grabs a gecko by the tail,
twist, snap, the tail breaks off--and the gecko runs away without it! Later, a
new tail will grow back. She is nocturnal, she sleeps during the day and is
awake at night. There are more amazing and cool facts about our leopard gecko.
Come see her and ask questions!

Ruby, the elusive Betta fish
|
A Betta fish, also known as a Siamese fighting fish, is native to Southeast
Asia. Ruby, however, came from a pet store. We love to find her when she hides.
Can you find her? She eats tiny pellets of Betta fish food that we buy from the
pet store. Male betta fish are known to fight each other, hence the name Siamese
fighting fish.

|
These creepy, crawly creatures are actually beetle larva. This means that when
they mature, they become little black beetles! Come see what they are up to! How
many worms can you find?
