Peoria has joined The Little Free Library (LFL) movement! Thanks to a generous donation of ten little libraries by Ken Hale and his company, Shadow Mountain Productions, the City of Peoria has partnered with the Friends of the Peoria Public Library to find literacy supporting businesses and 501(c)(3) sponsors who will work with the local community to fill each LFL with donated books, help maintain the condition of the Library and spread the news of the Library’s arrival in their community.

Here’s how Little Free Libraries work; You can “take a book, return a book” – it’s a free book exchange. You then leave a few books for others to read. Anyone can share books in local Little Free Library book sharing boxes! Use Little Free Library’s world map to find Little Libraries near you. It’s that easy! As a community, we can spread the joy of literacy and encourage visits to our two local Peoria Libraries at each site. Stop by today and visit the Peoria’s original Little Free Library, sponsored by Mayor Pro Tem Vicki Hunt, at Peoria’s Community Garden, 10225 N 83rd Ave, Peoria.

Arriving in late July 2019, the ten new libraries will be located at the following locations: Vistancia’s Sunset Park, West Wing Park, Terramar Park, Sonoran Mountain Park, Alta Vista Park, Parkridge Park, Country Meadow Park, Sunnyslope Park, Paseo Verde Park and Windrose Park.. We are grateful to our sponsors: The Peoria Police Officers Association Charities, The Vistancia Mom’s Club, HomeSmart Realty – Yvonne Owens, Realtor, Developing HR, LLC. - Jane Cincinelli, Founder, The Inspire Project Inc., The Peoria Rotary Foundation, the Peoria Sunset Lions Foundation, Culver’s Restaurant – Deer Valley and Dairy Queen – Lake Pleasant. And we salute the efforts of Eagle Scout, Matthew Setkorn, for painting and sealing each library!
