Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Dates: Monday, Feb. 18

The Peoria Main Library and Sunrise Mountain Library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18, in observance of President's Day. The buildings will reopen on the following Tuesday @ 9 a.m. Library materials that would have been due on Feb. 18 will not be due until the next business day.

Living with Alzheimer’s for People with Alzheimer’s

The diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease is life-changing and leads to many questions. What will this mean for me and my family? How do I plan for the future? Where can I get the help I need? Join us for this three-part program and have a chance to hear from others who have been where you are discussing what you need to know, what you need to plan, and what you need to develop and work with your care team.

BRAVO Peoria!

The City of Peoria, along with the Friends of the Peoria Public Library, present this annual family event and book sale. This year’s event will include a James the Juggler, Mark Cater the Science Guy, Cowboy Ric Balloons, a Henna Artist, face painting, a balloon artist, kid’s crafts, a huge book sale, and much much more. Families are invited to join us at the Sunrise Mountain Library and Camino a Lago Park. The park features additional activities for kids and families to enjoy. Funds from the book sale are reinvested in City of Peoria Library activities and events.

Food For Fines

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Dates: Apr. 7 - Apr. 13

Give back to your community by donating non-perishable food and have your library fees reduced! During National Library Week, April 7 - 13, 2019, 50 cents will be deducted from library overdue fees for each nonperishable food item collected at the Peoria Main and Sunrise Mountain Libraries. All donations will be accepted even if fees are not being paid. A maximum of $25 can be paid with donated food. Homemade food or food donated to replace lost or damaged items cannot be accepted. All donated food will be distributed to Community Hope Center in Peoria. For more information, call the Peoria Public Library at 623-773-7555 or Sunrise Mountain Library at 623-773-8650.

Escape the Library for Adults

LGBTQ: A History in Arizona

In celebration of our summer reading program and to kick off pride month with a bang, The Peoria Main Library is bringing beloved Arizona historian, Marshall Shore, to share his knowledge about LGBTQ history in our wonderful state.

2018 Tax Information

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

2018 taxes are due on Monday, Apr. 15, 2019. Pre-printed tax forms are not available at the libraries. Tax forms may be downloaded and printed from the IRS and AZ Dept. of Revenue's websites. Arizona State tax forms are also available for photocopying. Forms are available at the following:

The Peoria Community Center is hosting an Income Tax Aide Program sponsored by AARP for those needing assistance. The program runs from Feb. 5 - Apr. 10.

Every great book starts with a great beginning. Start your day with a great beginning at the Great Beginnings Book Club. Join us in the Adult Fiction section on the second Wednesday of each month from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m to meet new people and discuss good books.

Ask a Master Gardener

Master Gardener volunteers from the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension in Maricopa County will be available to answer your desert gardening questions, including but not limited to plant selection, irrigation, fertilization, pruning techniques, pest management and problem diagnosis. You can bring plant material or insect specimens for ID and advice.

Free Practice Driving Tests and Materials

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

Peoria Public Libraries in partnership with, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, offers free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. The service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests.
