Peoria READS! Peoria Summer Reading Program

The City of Peoria's Mayor Cathy Carlat proudly presents Peoria Reads! Read at least 20 minutes a day from June 1st to August 1st for chances to win great prizes. Earn additional drawing tickets by attending special Peoria Summer events over the summer! Pick up your Peoria READS! bookmark at your local Peoria Library or at any of the Peoria READS! events. Completed bookmarks must be returned to your local Peoria Library Saturday, August 4, 2018.

Summer Reading Program: Libraries Rock!

Readers will explore all things musical this summer as Peoria Public Libraries presents the “Libraries Rock” Summer Reading Program! The Summer Reading Program is open to all readers from preschool through adult, with events, prize drawings, storytimes and more throughout the summer. Early registration for “Libraries Rock” begins on May 1.

Want to meet some interesting characters? Open a book. Want to meet some real-life interesting characters, too? Join the Novels @ Night Book Club! Book clubs are a great way to talk with friends and meet new people while exploring and discussing (hopefully!) good books. Join us on the 3rd Thursday of each month for a lively discussion. Adults 18+ please.

Learn all the arts and crafts that are usually passed down from generation to generation. Each month we will have a special project that harkens back to the days of our grandparents and those before them.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to use a computer, or an MP3 player or digital camera, or go on to the internet, or have an email account, or learn about blogs and Facebook, or buy a computer? Then these classes at Sunrise Mountain Library are for you. These classes are open to all adult members of the public.

The Technology Classes will be taking the summer off, but will back in August.

Free Practice Driving Tests and Materials

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

Peoria Public Libraries in partnership with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, offers free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. The service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests.

The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. We are an “open” club actively welcoming new members! Please visit as often as you wish – no commitment or fees are required until you decide if the club is a good fit for you.
