Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

This coming year, 2020, we will be celebrating the Peoria Public Libraries' 100th birthday and you can help us by designing a special Centennial Library Card. We want to know what does 100 years of Peoria Public Library service mean to you? Show us through your designs!

All ages can participate, with the finalists chosen from groups of 5-11, 12-17 and 18+ years of age. Stop by your local Peoria Library today to pick up an entry form or download one with the link below. Entries are due on Aug. 1 and the winner will be announced in Sept.

Arizona Movies: Westerns and More

The landscape across Arizona made it a prime location for Westerns, many featuring John Wayne. Walt Disney also filmed in Arizona, as well as Andy Warhol. Marshall Shore presents this fascinating look at cinema history.

Summer Reading Program
Summer Reading: A Universe Of Stories

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Dates: Jun. 1 - Aug. 1

This year’s theme is “A Universe of Stories,” which encourages participants to explore outer space and exercise their minds by reading at least 20 minutes a day. Participants can earn online badges to keep a healthy competition with family and friends. Beginning June 1, participants can start logging their summer reading activities rewards and even enter to win prizes. People who log 1,000 points can choose a free book from an online marketplace, while supplies last. Participants can earn one point per minute for reading physical or electronic books (including graphic novels), listening to audiobooks, and also for attending library events and completing online challenges!

Great Beginnings Book Club

Days: 2nd Tuesday of the month

Every great book starts with a great beginning. Start your day with a great beginning at the Great Beginnings Book Club. Join us once a month in the Adult Fiction from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m to meet new people and discuss good books.

Starting in September, the Great Beginnings Book Club will be moving from Wednesdays to the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Please contact with any questions.

Want to meet some interesting characters? Open a book. Want to meet some real-life interesting characters, too? Join the Novels @ Night Book Club! Book clubs are a great way to talk with friends and meet new people while exploring and discussing (hopefully!) good books. Join us on the 3rd Thursday of each month for a lively discussion. Adults 18+ please.

Then these classes at Sunrise Mountain Library are for you. The classes are open to all adult members of the public.

The Technology Classes will be taking the summer off, but will back in August.

Master Gardener volunteers from the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension in Maricopa County will be available to answer your desert gardening questions, including but not limited to plant selection, irrigation, fertilization, pruning techniques, pest management and problem diagnosis. You can bring plant material or insect specimens for ID and advice.

Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia

Alzheimer's is not normal aging. It’s a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, Alzheimer’s disease stages and risk factors, current research, treatments available, and Alzheimer’s Association resources.

Peoria Forward is a high-impact partnership between ASU E+I and the City of Peoria designed to grow and scale the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the City of Peoria and accelerate economic development. Peoria Forward events are FREE and open to everyone. Events are interactive with engaging formats designed to build the Peoria entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Free Practice Driving Tests and Materials

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

Peoria Public Libraries in partnership with, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, offers free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. The service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests.

In the mood for foot-tapping music? Monday Night Melodies, a free concert featuring three 20-minute sets, is for you! A variety of music, from Country and Bluegrass to folk, Oldies, and Ethnic will entertain you.

Monday Night Melodies will be on summer hiatus through July. Please check back for upcoming schedules later this summer.
