Peoria Libraries Closure

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29

The Peoria Main Library and Sunrise Mountain Library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. The buildings will reopen on the following Saturday @ 9 a.m. Library materials that would have been due on Nov. 28 or Nov. 29 will not be due until the next business day.

Both buildings will also close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Book clubs are a great way to talk with friends and meet new people while exploring and discussing (hopefully!) good books. Join us on the 3rd Thursday of each month for a lively discussion. Adults 18+ please.

Every great book starts with a great beginning. Start your day with a great beginning at the Great Beginnings Book Club. Join us once a month in the Adult Fiction area on the second Tuesday of each month from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m to meet new people and discuss good books.

Want to beat writer's block and finally make headway on that blog, memoir, or book? Whether you want to write the Great American Novel, learn to journal, compose a great business letter, or launch a blog, this class will help. Join us to practice creativity exercises, find fresh inspiration for your writing project, and gain a new group of fellow writers for support and encouragement. New and experienced writers of all genres are welcome. This is not a "read and critique" class. Instead, we will be emphasizing the writing process, using only a pen and notebook or paper. This is a screen-free group.

Bring your laptop and explore how to use Blender, a free open source modeling software for 3D design and animation. Learn about the software’s interface, basic tools, and basic modeling. Group meets on the second Saturday of the month in the Main Library’s Activity Room from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Master Gardener volunteers from the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension in Maricopa County will be available to answer your desert gardening questions, including but not limited to plant selection, irrigation, fertilization, pruning techniques, pest management and problem diagnosis. You can bring plant material or insect specimens for ID and advice.

Free Practice Driving Tests and Materials

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

Peoria Public Libraries in partnership with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, offers free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. The service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests.
